Easy Recipes, Elegant Events and Heartwarming Reads
Published 5 months ago • 2 min read
Hello!
Today I'm sharing five easy recipes (perfect for busy evenings or relaxed entertaining), a peak behind the scenes at two stylish summer events and a wonderfully uplifting read.
Behind The Scenes
Last week my husband and I spent a lovely day with friends at The Henley Royal Regatta, a stylish boat-racing event held annually in Henley-on-Thames. We enjoyed champagne, an exquisite three course lunch, afternoon tea, and of course, the boat races! If you fancy a peek even further behind the scenes, check out my Get Ready For Regatta With Me reel on Instagram!
We are off to the Henley Festival, an annual black tie event on the banks of the Thames, with friends later this week. The Festival brings together music, culture, art and fine dining in a beautiful riverside setting. I just have to decide what to wear! This is what I chose last year...
5 Easy Recipes
Make meal planning easy with these 5 delicious recipes, perfect for busy days and relaxed entertaining.
Cod with Chickpeas in a Mediterranean Ragu
Cod, fresh veggies and a delicious sauce combine in this mild yet flavourful fish supper.
Sausages and crisp apple in a delicious dressing make this warm salad a real favourite. Sausages make it kid-friendly too! PS - You can use veggie sausages if you prefer.
It was a joy to return to wartime Britain with Emmy, Bunty, and the Women’s Friend team in AJ Pearce’s Dear Miss Lake. This final instalment in the Emmy Lake series offers another heart-warming glimpse into the charm, camaraderie, and quiet resilience of life on the home front. To read more about Dear Miss Lake and the Emmy Lake Chronicles series, check out my review on the website now.
I received an advance ARC copy of Dear Miss Lake by A J Pearce from Pan Macmillan and NetGalley, and I enjoyed it so much I purchased a copy of the newly released hardback book for my own library!

Reading - I'm re-reading Cook Eat Repeat * by Nigella Lawson. It's even better the second time around!
Watching - Great Hotels Through Time on Channel 5 (UK)
Catching up on - Reading the contributions at the July edition of The Hearth and Soul Link Party. Hearth and Soul is a great place to find inspiration on everything that feeds the soul - from home, family and recipes, to travel, fashion and more. Fellow bloggers, if you create content in these categories, please do pop by and share your blog posts!
Recommending - These amazing mosquito repellant bracelets * that my friend told me about. They look cute, contain no harmful chemicals and (much to my amazement!) they really work.
Working on - two new recipes, one for healthier - but still very delicious - muffins and one for a fruity dessert.
That's all for now. I hope your July is off to a wonderful start!

Hello December! There's always something so magical about this time of year - even the rainy, grey days seem to hold a little extra promise. Kitchens begin to warm with the scent of cinnamon and ginger, strangers greet each other in the streets like in days gone by, and the bright lights and sparkle bring a little bit of excitement to each day. Whether you are getting ready to celebrate Christmas, St Nicholas Day (6 December) or celebrating Hanukkah, I hope that this month is bringing some...
Hello! Whether you are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, or just beginning to lean into the festive season (or both!) I have lots of inspiration for you, with a little comfort and joy sprinkled in too. This is such a beautiful in-between moment - a week full of gratitude and the first twinkle of Christmas, all at once. I love the quiet magic late November brings. Christmas lights are beginning to appear and the evenings feel cosier. Everything seems to touched with...
Hello! Is anyone else feeling the pressure to fast-forward through November straight to Thanksgiving and Christmas? This year I'm making a concerted effort to allow these first couple of weeks in November to feel like a gentle pause, a chance to catch my breath before the sparkle and excitement ahead. I want to linger in the autumn days a little bit longer, to enjoy cosy afternoons, walks in the crisp fall air (okay sometimes it's a bit soggy, but stay with me here 😂), and enjoy some quiet...
