Happy Twixmas!

Happy Twixmas!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! If you are celebrating Hanukkah, I'm sending warm wishes and I am wishing everyone a very Happy Twixmas!

I want to thank so many of you who have left comments on the website or reached out to share your successes with my Christmas recipes, I love hearing from you all and it makes me so happy to know that my family recipes are becoming part of your family traditions as well.

Christmas Leftovers

Are you struggling to make the most of your Christmas leftovers? Those bits of turkey, ham, or chicken are way too delicious to go to waste.

Of course, there’s the long looked forward to post-Christmas turkey sandwich, the grilled ham and cheese sandwich, or a Ploughman’s platter with slices of meat, cheese and chutney. However, when the lovely thick slices of cold cuts are gone, what to do with the little bits and pieces that are left behind? I have some great ideas and recipes in this Christmas Leftovers Article on the website now.

How Long Can I Keep Leftovers?

In theory, chicken and turkey will last in the fridge for three to four days, and cooked ham will last three to five days. Most cooked vegetables will last for between three and five days. (Please note, this is totally dependant on how quickly you cool and refrigerate your leftovers, your fridge being the correct temperature, and the advice given in your local area. Always be sure the ingredients you are working with look and taste fresh and do not exceed timings recommended by your local health authorities.)

Hello December! There's always something so magical about this time of year - even the rainy, grey days seem to hold a little extra promise. Kitchens begin to warm with the scent of cinnamon and ginger, strangers greet each other in the streets like in days gone by, and the bright lights and sparkle bring a little bit of excitement to each day. Whether you are getting ready to celebrate Christmas, St Nicholas Day (6 December) or celebrating Hanukkah, I hope that this month is bringing some...

Hello! Whether you are preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, or just beginning to lean into the festive season (or both!) I have lots of inspiration for you, with a little comfort and joy sprinkled in too. This is such a beautiful in-between moment - a week full of gratitude and the first twinkle of Christmas, all at once. I love the quiet magic late November brings. Christmas lights are beginning to appear and the evenings feel cosier. Everything seems to touched with...

April Harris reading on a cosy sofa

Hello! Is anyone else feeling the pressure to fast-forward through November straight to Thanksgiving and Christmas? This year I'm making a concerted effort to allow these first couple of weeks in November to feel like a gentle pause, a chance to catch my breath before the sparkle and excitement ahead. I want to linger in the autumn days a little bit longer, to enjoy cosy afternoons, walks in the crisp fall air (okay sometimes it's a bit soggy, but stay with me here 😂), and enjoy some quiet...
